Składam prosty serwer do firmy i proszę o ocenę czy dobrze skonfigurowałem. Jakby ktoś był miły rzucić okiem to będę wdzięczny...

Klientów w sieci jest na razie 16. Docelowo będzie około 40 w tym macintoshe, windowsy i linuksy. Konfigurację sprzętu wybrałem taką:

IMHO skoro kupujesz dwie kosci ram, to moze lepiej zmontowac to na MB z chipsetem obslugujacym dual chanel, np na NVidia NForce2. Dobrym wyborem byly by plyty Asusa z serii A7N8X.
Co do pozostalych elementów nie bede sie wypowiadal.
Zastanow sie jeszcze, czy dyski laczysz w RAID. Plyty z wbudowanymi kontrolerami nie sa takie drogie. Jak ma byc bezpiecznie, to moze dobry bylby raid 1, albo raid 0, wtedy maszyna dostanie kopa :) (ale bardziej niebezpieczne od pojedynczych dyskow).

Toast supported it right away, but I had to use PatchburnII for full Apple support (iTunes, iDVD ext..). (note - iDVD will not burn to external drives normally but there's a tip in the FAQ's dvd section that often works. Also remember iDVD doesn't support burning DVD+R discs so use DVD-Rs for it. Also no dual layer burn support in any iApps yet.-Mike) It burns dual layer and DVD-+ perfect, but my Pyro Case isnt fast enough for the highest speeds so I that wont work . Need another Case! (the pyro cases made in the last 3 years or so should have oxford911 bridges (ata/66 rated) - but I guess you have an older model with the ATA/3 bridge board?) Recommend this baby to everyone! I think it is tehe fastest one out there. (actually the Pioneer DVR-108 has faster Dual layer burning (4x) and it's rated for 16x DVD-R and DVD+R, but its CDR rating is 32x max, vs 40x max. See reports here on that drive (and the main site has a feedback page on it w/DL/Toast 6.0.7 reports. Patchburn II also required for it for iApps burn support, as with most new drives apple has not native support for it yet. BTW - if you have questions to ask me - use email, link is at the main site. Składam prosty serwer do firmy i proszę o ocenę czy dobrze skonfigurowałem. Jakby ktoś był miły rzucić okiem to będę wdzięczny...
Maszyna będzie głownie:
* Serwerem drukarek (dwie drukarki laserowe HP1300, podłączone do huba USB), serwerem plików (pliki głownie biurowe, od kilkudziesięciu KB do kilku MB - nic dużego) w grupie roboczej (niestety klienci to XP HE). Generalnie Samba.
* Udostępnianie i kontrola (NAT, FW, QOS) łącza InternetDSL 512. Generalnie iptables.
* Serwerem WWw dla lokalnych klientów (udostępnianie oprogramowania itd.), proste bazy danych w oparciu o MySQL (głownie dane adresowe i dane ze do monitorowania stacji roboczych (AIDA32), max. kilkanaście tys. rekordów). Generalnie LAMP.
* Backupowanie istniejących danych (na CDR, ew. na dodatkowym dysku).
* Monitorowanie wszystkiego co się da, ruchu w sieci, statystyki drukarek, stany stacji roboczych, problemy itd.
Z czasem może dojdzie kilka nowych funkcji ale niewiele... Może squid, lokalny serwer pocztowy, serwer dla stacji Linuksowych (XTerminale, LDAP - jak uda mi się tam Linuksy wcisnąć ;-), może jakieś wynalazki w rodzaju systemu pracy grupowej jak będzie zapotrzebowanie...

Czy to jest w miarę rozsądny zestaw (czy nie ma w nim jakiś typowych knotów w sensie słaby chipset itd.)? W każdym razie wyszło niedrogo (2K), wszystko na gwarancji 24 m-ce i więcej. Myślałem również o czymś bardziej specjalizowanym tzn. płyta dwuprocesorowa z 2x P3 ~500Mhz, 2x 76GB SCSI, lepsza obudowa itd. Ale tutaj też pytanie bo w "firmowym" sklepie nie mają tego typu podzespołów - gdzie w Warszawie można dostać takie rzeczy (najchętniej aby mieli ofertę na WWW)? Równiez martwi mnie sprawa drukarek na USB. Będą działać?
